The story behind Carol Gittins Florist
Carol Gittins Florist has been a local shop in the heart of Bishop Auckland since we opened our doors in 1996. Founded by expert florist Carol Gittins, who saw the opportunity to open an independent florist shop to share her love and creativity for beautiful flowers with the people of County Durham.
Local florist with a passion for creative designs
Carol grew up in the local area, and after leaving school, she went on to train to be a chef and was in the catering industry for 10 years before deciding to retrain in Floristry at Houghall College in Durham, opening her shop while gaining her qualification in Floristry. From hand-conditioning stems, early morning flower deliveries to the busy buzz of Christmas,Valentines Day and Mother's Day and creating unique floral designs every day, Carol still loves every day at work.
Finding the perfect shop premise on Newgate Street, it was the ideal location to open her own florist shop. Just opposite Bishop Auckland Main train station, surrounded by other local businesses and easy to find in the centre of town, Carol fell in love with the shop space and the natural light that floods through the front window.
